If you were to ask my friends what I am like with money, they would tell you two things: generous and cautious.  You see, I like to use the money that I have to help others through charitable donations, so I am very cautious where I spend my money.

A good friend of mine provided me with some horse racing tips that he thought would provide me with surefire winners when I went to the horse racing track.  I asked him where he got the tips from, and I guess his buddy hands out racing tips on a daily basis for free.

    I don’t like free advice.

Instead, I spent some money so that I could talk to the local horse racing tipster to see what he thought.  The information he provided me was different than what my friend gave me, but I knew that the advice I was getting was not just some guess.

So I will follow the advice of the guru before someone I don’t know – I don’t want to leave anything to chance.

Many people ask me for suggestions as to what I would like for a gift for my birthday and Christmas.  They fully expect that I will ask for something that I need like socks, or some new clothes, but how much fun would that be?

No, I want something that will entertain me and amuse me, not bore me to death.  So, when someone asks me what I want, I rattle off the name of some gizmos that would entertain me, not something boring and practical.

I usually get some sort of weird look, but hey, it is my choice.  I am very happy when they do get me something that I ask for and I am a little disappointed when they don’t.  Just because you think that they are not a good gift, doesn’t mean that is how I think.

Besides, if you really don’t want to know what I want – don’t ask.  That way, when you see the look of disappointment on my face, you will realize that you made a mistake by not asking me.

My friend just went through the most mortifying and awful experience she has ever had in her life. It all started with her having a reaction to a new prescription given to her by her doctor. The pills affected her heart, prompting her to go and get an ECG.

While she was strapped topless to the chair, the nurse left the room and left the door wide open. The worst part of it all is that the door was facing the waiting room and everyone in the waiting room gawked at my poor topless friend.

I told her that she should launce a formal complaint because that nurse’s lack of giving her personal privacy was appalling. She called the head office of that medical clinic and has said that if nothing is done than she will launch a lawsuit.

I cannot imagine what she went through while sitting there helpless and bared for all to see, but I know that it is not a matter that I would just allow to drop.
