When I finished high school, I knew that I wanted to get a job in the entertainment industry. I knew that this was a hard industry to get into, but I was determined to make it happen. I talked to a career counselor and he suggested that I might try to get on with a cruise ship and then at least I would have something for a resume.
I thought that was good advice, so I started applying to every cruise company I could think of. I was actually quite surprised to get a call from P&O Cruises very shortly after mailing my application. I had an interview and was hired. I decided that I was going to make it a great year so that I could move to Los Angeles the next year to further my career.
I did what I promised myself that I would do and within a year, I was in LA doing what I had always wanted to do. I do think that working on the cruise ship got me to where I am today, but I would definitely never go back!
